We have been organising walks on the Annandale Way for our B&B guests since the walk’s inception in 2009 and we find ourselves out and about on various stretches most days whilst walking Thomas, our Welsh Terrier.
The full Annandale Way walk can be done either over 4 or 5 days depending on how you feel with Day 1 being the steepest in terms of climbs.
|DAY 1||Devil’s Beef Tub Circuit (14 miles/22.5km)
Starting in the market town of Moffat and heading out to circumnavigate the hills around The Devil’s Beef Tub before returning into town.
|DAY 2||Moffat to Raehills (8 miles/13km)
Heading out and up onto the Beattock moor with a combination of tracks and minor roads and then reaching end of stage point at the A701 at Raehills.
|DAY 3 (i)||Raehills to Hightae (13 miles/21km)
Minor roads and tracks with decision to make after 7 miles for either i) right fork towards Lochamaben and then ‘home’ to Hightae or…
|DAY 3 (ii)||Raehills to Lockerbie (13 miles/21km)
ii) left towards Lockerbie with organised pick-up back to Hightae
|DAY 4 (i)||Hightae to Hoddom (12 miles/18.5km)
Leave Hightae and head for Rammerscales Estate and climb to Joe Graham’s monument for outstanding views of the Annandale Valley. Then back down to the River Annan and follow towards Hoddom Estate.
|DAY 4 (ii)||Lockerbie to Hoddom (8.5 miles/14km)
No climbs on the Lockerbie to Hoddom route – through Eskrigg Nature Reserve, past a wonderful abandoned country house at Milnbank and then towards Hoddom Estate. Pick up back to Hightae.
|DAY 5||Hoddom to Solway Firth (9.5 miles/15km)
Over Hoddom Bridge following the River Annan towards Brydekirk, whisky distillery excursion opportunity at Annan and then out onto the Solway Firth. Pick-up back to Hightae.

Cost of our Package is £490 per person (based on a couple sharing a Room). We have no Single rooms however please contact us for a single-occupancy price.

If you’ve ever been on a chalet based skiing holiday, it’s a bit like that…..without the underlying threat of potential avalanche strikes, limb breaks and overpriced cups of coffee on the piste.
An Additional night can be arranged if you’re arriving from further afield and would like to settle in beforehand.
