Directions By Car

Hightae is just 10 minutes off the A74(M) and approximately 2½ miles from Lochmaben and Lockerbie.

From Motorway:

Heading North - Leave A74(M) at junction 18, heading for Lockerbie and then onto the A709 signposted for Lochmaben and Dumfries.

Heading South - Leave A74(M) at junction 17, heading for Lockerbie and then onto the A709 signposted for Lochmaben and Dumfries.

From Dumfries:

Head out of town on the A709 signposted for Lockerbie. Drive through Torthorwald and once in the centre of Lochmaben, turn right at the church (signposted for Hightae).

Travel approx 2¼ miles along the B7020 and turn left at the sign for Hightae. (if you miss it – relax – there’s another turn off, ½ a mile along).

Down into Hightae and our hotel is on the LHS.

Please take care if using a satnav from Dumfries as this has a tendency to take you over an extremely rough, non-tarmac hill road unsuitable for road going vehicles.

From Lockerbie:

Head out of town on the A709 signposted for Lochmaben. Past the cemetery on the RHS and down the hill.

Head over the bridge at the traffic lights - please ignore immediate signpost for Hightae (this is a very narrow road and can lead to the occasional Mexican stand-off with a tractor). Instead keep on the A709 for Lochmaben and 200 yards or so after the 30mph sign, turn left at the church onto the B7020 signposted for Hightae.

Travel approx 2¼ miles along the B7020 and turn left at the sign for Hightae. (if you miss it – relax – there’s another turn off, ½ a mile along).

Down into Hightae and our hotel is on the left-hand side.

By rail

Regular train services run to Lockerbie station from all Scottish cities. There is also a daily service from London Euston. The hotel is only a 10 minute taxi ride from the station.

If you are looking for trains to Lockerbie we recommend TransPennine Express as they don’t charge booking fees.

By coach

Comfortable express coaches link Lockerbie with most main towns and cities in the UK. An extensive network of services is operated by National Express and Citylink. The hotel can provide timetable and ticketing information.

By air

Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports each have over 60 arrivals per day from UK, European and Transatlantic airports. Hightae is then between 1½ and 2 hours drive from these airports following the road instructions above.

If you wish transport for the short distance from the railway station to the hotel it is advisable to book in advance. The hotel will be pleased to arrange your transport.
